Girls' Night Out

Kathy Lette, Sophie Kinsella etc., 2001

It's a compilation of 33 short stories, 600 pages.
It took me about 5 months...
Not that it was too thick to be finished in a short time..
just that it wasn't interesting enough I guess
so I wont recommend this book to anyone..
Do like some stories though...such as the one from my fav author, Sophie Kinsella :)

ok, it's 11 pm..Sweet dreams!

John Grisham, 2009

It's not a novel but it's a short stories compilation, 7 stories to be exact and is belong to my dear husband.
He's John Grisham's fan and has almost all of the John Grisham's..more than 10 for sure.

Well, I would say it was a typical John Grisham's...such as; lawyers, courthouses, Carlton (name of a town which had appeared several times in his novels), small town people conflicts (southerners of American) etc.

Of all 7, I like "Michael's Room", "Quiet Haven" and " Funny Boy" the most.
"Michael's Room" was about a lawyer kidnapped by a father whose son has brain damage since 3 and who was defeated in court against a doctor...the doctor was presented by a scum lawyer..
"Quiet Haven" was about a stalker hunts victims in a retirement home..and "Funny Boy" was about a young man..having infected by AIDS and dying at a small town..

About 30-50 pages for each story and, an easy reading English.

By the way, my husband has finished reading this book..."Malaysian Maverick" a few weeks ago.

This book was once banned in Malaysia but when it was released it has become Malaysian Best Sellers.
Well, I am not into politics so I would need some きっかけ to read the book but my husband said it was indeed very very very interesting book. So for those interested... :)

Kad Hari Raya

Kalau dulu-dulu bila bulan Ramadan
semua orang sibuk cari kad raya
kad raya untuk famili,
kad raya untuk orang tersayang,
malah kad raya untuk cikgu pun ada....
pejabat pos dan posmen pun sibuk uruskan kad raya
seronok kalau dapat banyak kad raya
sampai tampal-tampal tepi dinding

so

saya pun hantar sms sahaja sekarang..

jadi
semasa kad raya semakin menghilang..
apabila mendapat kad raya yang ditulis khas,
ia adalah sesuatu yang sangat-sangat istimewa....

dapat satu saje tahun ini..
tapi sangat-sangat hargainya

thanks!
:)

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

SIFU

Khoo Kheng-Hor, 2009

The main reason I bought this book is that it has a Malaysian history element in it. Although it was a fictional story,  the author used some real historic events as the background of the story.

Well, it was about a boy whose father was murdered in a cold-blooded way by an over-zealous British Army Officer during British occupation in Malaya. He knew he had to survive in order to seek vengeance. Young as he was, he also knew he couldn't do it all on his own but had to learn from those who were able to teach him. He then met the sifu - and later, became a professional assassin.

Easy reading English.
